Chhattisgarh MGNREGA officers to resign enmasse

RAIPUR: More than 15,000 employees associated with the Chhattisgarh MGNREGA Officers-Employees Union will resign en-masse to press their demand for regularization of their services. Among them, 1730 employees are from the Bastar division alone.

However, during the last few months the members of the Union have been agitating for their regularization and also organised a long march to state capital Raipur in support of their demands.

A union release said efforts are being made at the administrative level to abolish the posts of MGNREGA officer-employees. Besides, efforts are on to force them to sign a bond sating employees to never stage demonstrations which the union said is against the fundamental rights.

They said the Congress, in its poll manifesto, had promised to regularise the services of temporary workers but no action has been taken during the three and a half years.
