Chhattisgarh Congress leader caught with Moists, BJP writes to Union home minister seeking probe; he was abducted, claims his party

RAIPUR: Opposition BJP has cornered the ruling Congress after its block general secretary was caught with four Maoists, including two women, in Telangana and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter citing the safety of people of Chhattisgarh.

BJP state president Arun Sao has written to Union home minister Amit Shah expressing concern over the development in which Chhattisgarh Congress’s Bhopalpatnam block general secretary K G Satyam was caught with Maoists in Telangana. Congress has claimed that Satyam, at present, is not associated with the party in any form. He was earlier in Congress.

Sao urged the home minister for an investigation to expose as to how many other people have nexus with the Maoists. Sao wrote that the situation in other states has improved as far as Maoists violence is concerned unlike Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, tribal leader and former minister in BJP government Mahesh Gagda alleged that Maoists are working like the 'B team' of Congress.

He said that Maoists had incited farmers of Chhattisgarh by circulating letters against the Central government and the language used in the letters was matching the languages generally used by the Congress to a greater extent.

There was not even a single word written in that letter criticizing the Congress government whereas the policies of the ruling party has claimed many lives of farmers, he said.

Gagda also demanded that the Center should investigate separately on the nexus between Maoists and Congress.

Gagda also dragged national leaders of Congress like Digvijay Singh and Raj Babbar for making statements in favour of Maoists from time to time.

Recently, Maoists celebrated Martyrdom Week in Chhattisgarh and took out a huge rally involving around 12,000 people. A 65-feet high monument was built. Maoists carrying reward of Rs 50 lakh to one crore participated in the rally, but no action was taken against them by the state government, said Gagda. The chief minister should have launched an inquiry into the matter, he said.

Meanwhile, Congress state spokesperson Dhananjay Singh Thakur said that a missing report of Satyam was filed in the police station by his relatives four days back. The Maoists had kidnapped him with his four-wheeler so that they could transport a member of their group, who was ill, for treatment in Telangana. Thakur further said that the BJP is yet to respond to alleged movement of Maoists to the residence of Vikram Usendi and Lata Usendi.
