Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel to watch ‘Kashmir Files’ with all legislators

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday invited all legislators of Vidhan Sabha to watch 'Kashmir Files' movie with him at 8 PM at a theatre in Raipur.

Upon opposition's demand to declare the movie tax free in state, Baghel said that rather he would like to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exempt the film from GST and it will then become tax free across the country.

A multiplex hall at a mall in Raipur has been booked for CM and MLAs to watch the movie.

Opposition BJP in the Vidhan Sabha have been raising the issue of declaring the "Kashmir Files" movie tax free in Chhattisgarh and leader of opposition Dharamlal Kaushik raised the matter again on Wednesday during the zero hour.

Kaushik said that many states have declared the movie tax free while Chhattisgarh has shown no interest. It would have attracted more people to watch this movie and a "crucial" story could have been shown widely, he said.

Replying to him, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel suggested, "Why not Central government declare the movie tax free across the country? If the Centre declares it GST free in all the states, your demands would be fulfilled."

He then said, "Let us all go to watch the film together tonight at 8? I invite you all to watch the movie."

CM later told reporters that a multiplex has been booked for the same and all MLAs were invited. He said that only after watching the movie we would know what it depicts about the incidents in Kashmir.

Earlier, BJP national vice president and former chief minister Raman Singh had accused that the theatres in Raipur had hanged "houseful" boards outside and it was an attempt to prevent the people to watch the movie. He alleged that when BJP workers went inside the movie hall, they found all seats empty. However, later the multiplexes managers said that the movie tickets can be easily booked via online and are available at the theatre also.
