Chester Zoo's live virtual tour is back to let families see their favourite animals from home

Children will be able to watch their favourite animals from home as Chester Zoo's live virtual tour returns today.

The zoo is hosting its second 'virtual zoo day' live on its  Facebook page starting at 10am, broadcasting animal action from various habitats around the zoo at different points in the day.

The full line-up includes everything from pandas and bears to tigers and elephants.

Here are the time slots for different animals are:

  • 10am - Meerkats
  • 11am - Eastern black rhinos
  • 12pm - Birds
  • 1pm - Poison dart frogs
  • 2pm - Jaguars
  • 3pm - Okapi

They could be subject to change but staff are also promising some surprises throughout the day, including the chance to see some baby meerkats.

Chester Zoo also has more than 50 activities you can access online - on all things animals, science and conservation.

Last week we reported how many zoos have web cams set up for people to see their animals with live streams.

Some attractions already offered the service online, but others have followed suit to give us virtual access to their furry friends during the coronavirus pandemic.

It's not just zoos where we can capture animals either. The Wildlife Trust in Cumbria has a badger cam live streaming the animals from Ambleside. Dusk is the best time to watch so it depends how late your children are up.

And at Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire, you can watch the goats, sheep and newborn lambs on its barn webcam here.
