Chester Zoo's The Lanterns Christmas event is back for its tenth year with a difference - never-before-seen illuminations.
The night-time trail which lets you explore the zoo out of hours is an annual winter event popular with families in Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond.
The trail, which opens on November 12, will feature new intricately detailed colourful lanterns which shine a light on species that are threatened with extinction including orangutans, wolves, butterflies and caterpillars.

Alongside the new lanterns, visitors will be able to see familiar favourites from previous years including lions, tigers, elephants and giraffes.
There are also enchanting costumed characters for guests to meet along the way, making it an exciting experience for all the family to enjoy this winter.
To celebrate Chester Zoo’s 90th birthday, there will also be a special light show taking visitors on a journey through time to explore the zoo’s history.
Tickets are on sale now and cost £11 for children and start from £13 for adults. The event runs from November 12 to December 23 and will operate from 4pm until 8.15pm on each date, with timed tickets granting entry every fifteen minutes.
Funds raised from the event will support the zoo’s crucial work as a wildlife conservation charity and help it recover from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
