Chester Bennington shown laughing in family video just hours before his death

Chester Bennington’s wife has shared a video of the late singer hours before he took his own life to show people what “depression looks like”.

The late Linkin Park frontman is seen laughing and having fun with his family as they experiment with different tasting jelly beans in the 40-second video.

“This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death. He loved us SO much & we loved him,” wrote Talinda Bennington on Twitter.

Within 36 hours, Bennington, a father of six, took his own life.

Before posting the video, Ms Bennington wrote: “My next tweet is the most personal tweet I have ever done. I'm showing this so that you know that depression doesn't have a face or a mood.”

Her 41-year-old husband died on 20 July.

Ms Bennington has been working to form an online community to support people who suffer from depression, using hashtags online such as “#f***depress” and “MakeChesterProud”.

Her video of the family follows their 15-year-old son, Draven Bennington, releasing three videos for National Suicide Prevention Week after his father’s death.

“I want to make a commitment that I will talk to someone before I hurt myself when I'm feeling depressed, sad or going through a hard week, month or year," he said.

“I want to challenge you to do the same - to help yourself, not hurt yourself.”

The teenager said he believes his father planned the visit with his son a week before his death so they could spend time together.

“He was really good at hiding it. I saw him a week before and I would not be able to tell one thing that was different,” he said.

“I thought everything was going great."
