Cheshire Oaks installs social distancing measures as it prepares to reopen to the public

Shoppers are eagerly awaiting the reopening of non-essential shops this month, including stores at Cheshire Oaks.

The shopping centre has remained closed for more than two months since the UK went into lockdown, but the government has confirmed that all non-essential retailers will be able to reopen in England from June 15, as part of plans to further ease the lockdown.

McArthurGlen has since announced it is planning to reopen their six centres across the UK on that date, including Cheshire Oaks, and they have already been busy putting safety measures in place ahead of this.

Although McArthurGlen has yet to comment on the specifics, new posters, signs and visual aids have already been installed at the shopping village, for customers to adhere to, reports Cheshire Live.

Many of the shop windows are currently still full of Easter merchandise, including the Cadbury's store which will presumably have a sale on Easter eggs when it reopens.

And on the ground outside each store are footprints to promote social distancing amongst customers.

Meanwhile, fitting rooms in all UK shops will be closed, other than for the purpose of enabling staff to change into protective clothing.

Announcing the reopening, a spokesperson for McArthurGlen said: "Following the UK Government’s latest update on Monday 25th May, we are planning to re-open our six centres on Monday 15th June.

"The safety and welfare of our customers, brand partners and employees remain paramount and our re-opening is subject to any further Government regulations and guidelines. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates accordingly.”

Restaurants based at Cheshire Oaks will remain closed as the Government has not given bars, restaurants or pubs permission or a date in which they could reopen.

Restaurants are still able to open for delivery or collection with safety measures in place.
