Cheshire IT firm Datastor Systems acquired by Canadian software giant Valsoft

A Cheshire-based IT firm has been acquired by a Canadian software giant.

Congleton firm Datastor Systems is now part of Montreal-based Valsoft, a firm specialising in the acquisition and development of vertical market software businesses.

Datastor Systems is a supplier of process control and information management solutions, delivering systems in the UK and exporting to locations across the globe.

The business will continue to operate independently with its existing management from its Congleton office.

Bill Wright, CEO of Datastor Systems Ltd, said: “Having been a successful independent company for over 40 years, providing ‘mission critical’ software solutions to the manufacturing sector, it was time to consider a succession plan.

"We were delighted when Valsoft Corporation approached us to become part of their family of companies. Collectively we can make the Process Control division a real success.”

Datastor was represented by Paul Tyrer, a partner in the corporate group at Congleton-based SAS Daniels LLP. He said: “Despite the challenges of lockdown, deals are being done and we’re seeing a growing number of acquisitive overseas companies keen to invest in the region.

"Datastor is a world class automation business operating globally and Valsoft clearly recognised its potential. The management team and employees will remain in place to drive the business forward.”

Joseph Khoubbieh, head of M&A at Valsoft, added: “We are extremely proud to welcome Datastor to our growing portfolio of process control software companies.

"Datastor has built a stellar reputation in the industry and we look forward to supporting their long-term growth. We believe the acquisition will bring long-term benefits to both its customers and team. We look forward to innovating together to create world class process control solutions.”

Valsoft was represented by Richard Wrigley of Shakespeare Martineau LLP in Birmingham.

SAS Daniels has offices located in Chester, Congleton, Macclesfield and Stockport.
