Cheryl shares rare photo on social media alongside 'new pal' alpaca

Cheryl let her social media followers have a sneak-peek into her life by posting a rare photo with her 'new pal'.

The 39-year-old was beaming with the South American mammal in the close-up snap with the white-furred animal for her 3.5 million followers.

Cheryl was wearing a shirt and denim baseball cap as she smiled for the camera alongside her "new pal" called Limelight.

She wrote on Instagram: "Made a new pal today .. he’s named limelight. He’s a movie star."

The alpaca had a red halter lead, which the Girls Aloud singer was holding, attached to him but it is not sure where and how Cheryl managed to get a photo with the animal.

Cheryl's son Bear, five, who she shares with former One Direction star Liam Payne, was not present for the photo.

The rare social media post comes after Cheryl and her fellow Girls Aloud stars Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts were reunited to honour their late band member Sarah Harding last month.

The foursome took part in a special Race for Life for Sarah 5k event to celebrate Harding's life and raise money for breast cancer.

The much-loved singer died aged 39 in September last year, less than a year after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which spread to other parts of her body.

Cheryl, Nadine and Nicola joined fellow runners at Hyde Park while Kimberley took part in the event remotely as she was out of London on the date (July 24) of the race.

Hundreds of fans gathered to watch the three stars take part in the run - many with dyed pink hair, wigs, and tutus – while the singers donned matching t-shirts in support of their friend.

The trio put on brave faces as they posed for photographs before taking their place on the start line.

Nicola also took time to speak to Kimberley via Instagram Live so she could feel involved in the day's festivities.

Speaking to the crowd beforehand, Cheryl said she still cannot quite believe the death of bandmate Sarah Harding is real.

"To be honest, I’ve never experienced or anticipated this grief," she said.

"You know, I’ve lost grandparents when I was younger and I lost a friend when I was younger but nothing like this, the feeling of shock and disbelief and it still lingers now to be honest. I still can’t quite believe it’s real."
