Greatest Dancer faces the axe with Cheryl set to lose her job on BBC show

Cheryl could lose her judging job on The Greatest Dancer as the BBC show may be scrapped over plummeting figures.

The jobs of the dance captains Cheryl, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison as well as the hosts Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo hang in the balance of the BBC's decision.

Only 2.8million tuned in to watch dancers Michael and Jowita bag the winning trophy in the finale.

It's reported the talent competition lost the ratings war to ITV's The Voice starring Olly Murs, according to The Daily Mail .

Rumours were swirling BBC have yet to make a final decision on the show but it's claimed crew were given a warning weeks ago.

An insider told The Sun : "Crew were warned weeks ago that it looked like there might not be a show next year so were told to look at alternative work."

The Mirror has approached a BBC representative for further comment.

Their victory has also given the dancers the opportunity to perform on Strictly Come Dancing .

They were coached to dance by Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti.

The dancers have been based in London and specialise as a ballroom and Latin duo.

Finalists Harrison and young duo Lily & Joseph lost out to the crown.
