Cheryl says Sarah Harding sent 'signs' through radio after Girls Aloud bandmate's passing

Cheryl says that she believes she has been in contact with Sarah Harding, and has had 'loads' of supernatural experiences throughout her life.

The former Girls Aloud star, 39, had her life turned upside down after bandmate Sarah died in September 2021, following a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Now, the popular Geordie singer, known as Cheryl Tweedy, has just debuted as a leading actor in 2:22 A Ghost Story in the West End of London.

The Mirror reports that in Cheryl plays the part of Jenny on stage which is the main role and a woman who believes she is being haunted. Asked if she has had any supernatural encounters in real life, Cheryl said: "I’ve had loads. I’ve had ones that I don’t feel like I can explain.

"More recently, a song started playing in me car without me car being switched onto bluetooth or plugged in, and it was a Girls Aloud song. It was Hear Me Out by Girls Aloud, which is even more random because that song… I would have to search back God knows where, I wouldn’t know where to look for it at this point.

"But, it started playing as I got into the car to go on a long journey. Very specific, and Sarah [Harding] called her book Hear Me Out after that song, so I just knew it was from her. I’ve had a lot of occurrences similar to that over the years since I was a kid.

"The more you believe in that stuff, the more of it you will be sent. If you don’t believe it, you’re blissfully unaware of messages or signs. I get a lot of signs, a lot. I’ve had very deep spiritual experiences that, again, they’re not something you can say with words that will make you sound coherent.

"It’s like when you’re trying to tell your friend about your dream and they’re looking at you like, ‘F*** sake, shut up'."

She later added in an interview with Gay Times: “If you’re open-minded to it and you are asking for a sign, say if a family member passes and you want to hear from them, you will get signs. We’re not just these bodies. We are far more than this. I’m not talking about God or The Bible, I’m just saying there is more.

"There’s energies. I believe in the universe sending you on the right path, if you’re in alignment."

Cheryl found fame alongside Sarah, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, and Nadine Coyle on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. After almost a decade of success, Girls Aloud announced they would be taking a hiatus in 2009 before returning for a 10-year reunion in 2013.

The group then announced they were splitting for good.

Following Sarah's death, the group reunited at a charity event last year to pay tribute to her legacy. Cheryl was also on The X Factor as a judge for two stints from 2008 to 2015 and had a solo pop career, but more recently has been concentrating on being a single mum to son born in March 2017 when she was in a relationship with Liam Payne that ended in 2018.

Asked about the prospect of new music, she said she would love to work with Kylie Minogue in the future but insisted there was no material close to being released at this stage. She said: "There’s nothing to talk about! I was in the studio writing stuff and then lockdown happened.

"I actually enjoyed lockdown a little too much. I had me son and it was a really precious time. It was wonderful for me, not having to do anything. And then I kind of fell off. I do have music that was never released from the last album, when I did Let You, that era, but I don’t know if I’ve outgrown it.

"I’d have to revisit. It’s something I’d need to take time out to look at, so I don’t have any news for you right now."

Cheryl is starring in 2:22 - A Ghost Story at London's Lyric Theatre.
