Cheryl says Sarah Harding is on her brain "every hour" as former bandmate battles cancer

Cheryl has revealed that Sarah Harding is on her brain "every hour" as her former Girls Aloud bandmate battles cancer.

Sarah delivered the heartbreaking news last summer that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was then told it had spread to other parts of her body.

The 39-year-old releases tell all book Hear Me Out on Thursday and in it she reveals that she had been told that Christmas 2020 would probably be her last.

In an extract of the book published in The Times at the weekend, Cheryl opened up on how she "lost it" and burst into tears as Sarah gave her a devastating update on her cancer battle during a FaceTime call.

She said: "Mostly, I try to keep my own emotions in check, but on one FaceTime call with her the other day, I couldn't hold it in.

"She relayed some terrible news, and I lost it and started crying."

And, now in an extract published in Glamour, she has spoken more about being there for Sarah, who she met in 2002 when both singers earned a place in Girls Aloud on Popstars The Rivals.

The 37-year-old says that Sarah "is on my brain every hour," adding: "Now I just want to be there for her in any way I can. She might want to cry or rant or even have a laugh, but wherever it is, just be there."

Cheryl's vow comes as Sarah confirmed that she, Cheryl and fellow Girls Aloud stars Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh had a secret reunion, away from cameras at the end of last year.

They met up at plush Soho Farmhouse for an evening of Japanese food and watching old episodes of the group's reality show Off The Record.
