Cheryl’s ‘questionable’ dance experience slammed by Jason Gardiner

Cheryl has come under fire from Jason Gardiner who has criticised her place on the judging panel of new BBC contest, The Greatest Dancer.

The Dancing on Ice star pulled into question Cheryl’s “questionable” dance experience and mocked her stint at the Royal Ballet School.

“The judging line up on that is questionable as well...what’s her dance background?” he said. “Where is her dance background? She went to Royal Ballet School that you pay for, an extortionate amount to go to because mum and dad just want to drop you off somewhere for the holidays.”

Cheryl has joined Strictly professional Oti Mabuse and Glee star Matthew Morrison for the new reality show which will see them judge soloists, duos and groups in a bid to crown the Greatest Dancer.

Gardiner’s is the latest criticism levelled against Cheryl ahead of the new show, after she was accused of struggling to get on with Mabuse.

It was reported that the pair had locked horns backstage, something Cheryl slammed as “fabricated”.

A spokesperson for the former Girls Aloud star told Standard Online: “It’s a fabricated story - yet again trying to pit female against female on a TV show. It’s a shame we haven’t moved past this.

“Cheryl absolutely loves working with Oti and has a brilliant relationship with her.”

Mabuse also waded in, telling fans “there’s absolutely no tension” between herself and “beautiful” Cheryl.

She posted a picture of the pair alongside the caption: “@cherylofficial sis you’re an absolute QUEEN I love you dearly and cannot wait to work with you. If anything I feel privileged and honoured to even be picked to share the same panel as you.”

The Greatest Dancer starts on BBC One, January 5
