Cheryl's earnings 'plummet by almost 50%' - but she says pop career 'isn't over' yet

Cheryl is said to have lost almost fifty percent of her earnings over 12 months.

The Girls Aloud star has stepped back from the spotlight in recent years and cancelled a number of appearances after the tragic death of her bandmate, Sarah Harding, who lost her battle with cancer.

Cheryl cancelled her performance at Birmingham Pride in September before shelving her BBC podcast after just four episodes.

In 2019 the mum-of-one reportedly earned £1,567,733 and released her stand-alone single Let You.

Despite the hype, the track only reached 57 in the UK chart, which was the lowest placed entry of Cheryl's career.

Now, new figures relating to the singer's holding company CC Couture Ltd reveal a dramatic decline in the star's finances over the next one year period.

While she is said to have once bagged more than £1 million through endorsements and personal appearances, figures for 2020 place Cheryl's earnings at £741,765, which is a decrease of £825,968, reports MailOnline.

The Mirror has contacted Cheryl's rep for comment.

Despite the reported financial issue, Cheryl is said to have no plans to leave her record label Universal, who are open to working on a new single with the star 'when the time is right.'

Sources had claimed that Cheryl's deal with Universal Music and indie label 3 Beat wasn't what executives had 'hoped', citing that 'Times have changed and people have moved on.'

However a spokesperson told MailOnline: "Cheryl has not made that decision at all. She is still signed to Universal and they are open to more Cheryl music when the time is right.

"There are always music conversations going on. She has not left the label and they still have a business deal together.

"Cheryl's music still does well for Universal. She still has over a million monthly listeners on Spotify despite not even releasing a new song in two and a half years."

The singer, who she shares her son Bear with One Direction star Liam Payne, used to be brand ambassador for L’Oreal.

However the nine-year partnership came to an end in 2018.

A L’Oreal spokesperson said at the time: ‘Following discussions with Cheryl and her team earlier this year, we can confirm that our spokesmodel partnership has come to an end, however she continues to be a friend of the brand.

‘We’re very proud to have worked with Cheryl for nine years and to have been part of her story, sharing and celebrating all things “worth it”.’
