Cheryl 'pushing for' Girls Aloud reunion after Greatest Dancer axe

Cheryl is said to be desperate for Girls Aloud to reunite after her show The Greatest Dancer was axed by the BBC after two series.

The show, which Cheryl was a dance captain on, failed to pull in huge audiences for its second run, being beaten in the ratings battle by ITV rival The Masked Singer.

And reports are suggesting that the show being given the chop has got the Geordie star pushing for her former band to reunite. Cheryl and bandmates Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, first shot to fame after winning Popstars The Rivals in 2002 and went on to score huge hits with the likes of Sound of the Underground, Love Machine and The Promise.

The group went on a hiatus after the release of fifth album Out of Control before coming back with Children in Need single Something New in 2012 and touring the UK on their Ten tour before calling it a day again.

But now, Cheryl, who has been linked with a place on the Strictly line-up this year, is said to have her heart set on Girls Aloud reforming, two years ahead of their 20th anniversary. A source told Heat : "Cheryl enjoyed the new friends she made on The Greatest Dancer.

Nadine Coyle reveals how she would react if she bumped into Cheryl

"But while everyone else is walking away a little bruised from the experience, they still have loads of work in the pipeline - she's got nothing.

"Now she's determined to make the Girls Aloud reunion happen, whatever it takes."

Cheryl's bandmate Nadine has said that the group are already in talks for a reunion, also revealing that Cheryl reached out via email to 'mend their rift'.

Talking about a Girls Aloud reunion on Angela Scanlon’s Thanks A Million podcast, Nadine said: "There’s been loads of conversations and people now are getting in contact, like, “What do we do?” It’s still early."
