Cheryl posts poignant Caroline Flack tribute after former X Factor colleague's death

Cheryl has paid tribute to late TV presenter Caroline Flack with a heartfelt Instagram post.

The Geordie star worked alongside the former Love Island host on The X Factor in 2015, when Caroline and former runner-up Olly Murs took over as the show's main presenters for a year.

The whole country was left stunned early on Saturday evening when, following widespread reports, the TV presenter's death was confirmed by her family in a statement which read: "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. "We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time."

The popular Love Island host was found dead at her London home earlier on Saturday and the news prompted an outpouring of grief from viewers, former contestants and many celebrities.

Cheryl has been one of many famous faces who've paid tribute on their Instagram pages, with her writing: "This is just so utterly gut wrenchingly tragic. I can’t even find my words...rest in peace Caroline.

I wish we could just be kinder. I wish we could just be open minded to each other and I wish we could be more understanding and mindful of one another and what issues people may be struggling with beneath the surface. We’re all human!

"My heart aches for her family and loved ones at this terrible time of pain. Sending love."
