Cheryl in rehearsals for music comeback at London's Mighty Hoopla festival

Cheryl is busy in rehearsals as she gears up to make her big comeback at the Mighty Hoopla festival at the weekend.

It's been two years since the Geordie star performed on stage; having last wowed her fans at Manchester Pride in 2019.

But on Saturday she will return to her music career to entertain tens of thousands of revellers at the Mighty Hoopla event, which is itself making a return to London's Brockwell Park after a two year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After teasing that she was in the dance studio at the end of last week, Cheryl took to her Instagram page on Tuesday evening to post a picture of her and her backing dancers, with the caption: "Hoopla...you ready?"

The picture immediately gathered a huge response with the Mighty Hoopla account using Cheryl's famous X Factor catchphrase to respond: "Whenever you're ready," and a fan replying: "Cheryl I am so excited I could cry."

Cheryl is headlining Mighty Hoopla 2021, with the main stage line-up also including Alexandra Burke, Becky Hill, Gabrielle and Sister Sledge.

Other acts set to grace different stages across the park on Saturday include Jimmy Somerville, Sonique, Whigfield, Atomic Kitten, The Honeyz, S Club, Artful Dodger, United Kingdolls and even Katie Price.

Cheryl first shot to fame in 2002, when she bagged a place in Girls Aloud on Popstars: The Rivals. The band went onto score number 1 hits with the likes of Sound of the Underground, I'll Stand By You and The Promise, before Cheryl scored five of her own.

Debut solo single Fight For This Love went straight to the top of the charts as did Promise This, Call My Name, Crazy Stupid Love and I Don't Care.
