Cheryl in 2:22: A Ghost Story rehearsals with days to go until West End debut

Cheryl has begun rehearsals for 2:22: A Ghost Story, with just days to go until her much talked about debut in London's West End.

Twenty years after she first shot to fame as a contestant on Popstars: The Rivals, it was announced in the run up to Christmas that the Geordie star had landed the role of Jenny in the critically acclaimed thriller, following in the footsteps of I'm A Celebrity winner and former Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore.

Announcing her big news to followers on Instagram, Cheryl, who will join the cast when the show moves to the Lyric Theatre, wrote: " Hey!!! .. I am SO excited to be starring in the west end thriller @222aghoststory! I will be playing the role of Jenny from January - April! I went to see the show with a previous cast and LOVED IT ! It is a totally new and exciting experience for me so if you’re looking for a fun night out & some entertainment in your new year tickets are available now."

Fans went wild for the news that Cheryl would be treading the boards in the West End, with many tickets snapped up straight away and now, with just days to go until her Ghost Story debut, the 39-year-old has now been pictured alongside her co-stars in rehearsals. Other actors in the show include Hugo Chegwin, an Ivor Novello award-winning producer and actor, who has worked with stars like Sam Smith and Mary J.Blige and starred in BBC's People, Just Do Nothing and Louise Ford, who played Kate Middleton in Channel 4 comedy The Windsors.

The plot of 2:22 sees Cheryl's character Jenny believe her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn't having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer. So they're going to stay up until 2:22….and then they'll know.

The new run of 2:22 is the fourth West End transfer of Danny Robins’ edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story. The Lyric is the show’s biggest house to date and follows two hugely successful seasons at the Criterion. Last year 2:22 A Ghost Story had Olivier Nominations including Best New Play, and won the Best New Play category in the Whatsonstage awards.

Their are performances Thursday - Sunday, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday, Tickets starts at just £15 and can be bought from www.222aghoststory.com.
