The author behind one of Tom Holland’s next movie roles has cast his verdict on the film adaptation.

Nico Walker’s Cherry, a semi-autobiographical novel about an army veteran who becomes addicted to opioids after returning home from Iraq, has been turned into a film by Avengers directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

British actor Holland plays the lead role alongside cast including Clara Bravo and Jack Reynor and, in a new interview, Walker has revealed his thoughts on the forthcoming release.

“I’ve seen parts of the film and it is an artistic interpretation, shall we say,” Walker told The Times.

“We didn’t have any input at all, but God bless them, they bought the rights; they can do it their way.”

The video game adaptation of Uncharted, which he stars in opposite Mark Wahlberg, has been delayed to 2022 due to the pandemic.

Holland’s new film, Cherry, will be released on Apple TV+ on 12 March.

One week earlier in the UK (5 March), the actor will be seen in Chaos Walking alongside Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley.
