Chernobyl is now the top-rated TV series of all time

A new Sky Original miniseries has surpassed some of the all-time great TV shows to top IMDB's top-rated TV show chart.

Following the final ever episode of Game of Thrones, the attention of many TV drama viewers has switched to 'Chernobyl', which debuted on Sky Atlantic earlier this month.

Starring Jared Harris (Mad Men; The Crown) and Emily Watson (Breaking The Waves; Appropriate Adult) the show is described as 'a story of incredible heroism and sacrifice, but also shocking lies and conspiracy'. Episode 4 airs tonight.

It's unlikely that Chernobyl's status as the "greatest TV show of all time" will last. However, if the next episodes live up to the standards the first three have set, it may well be in with a chance of staying within the Top 10.

Unlike it's competitors, one thing we know for sure is that - regardless of how much acclaim it receives - we won't see it returning for a second series.

In total, the show will have just five episodes with the story being wrapped up in the final episode.

If you're not a Sky customer but you would like to see what the fuss is over, check out the various Sky Entertainment Pass deals you can find here on Now TV and start your free trial today.

The series finale will air here in the UK next Tuesday, June 4, in the early hours of the morning.
