Cher Lloyd says music bosses tried to force her into fake romantic relationships

Cher Lloyd has claimed that music bosses tried to pressure her into entering a fake romance with a fellow celebrity to boost her fame.

The 26-year-old singer found fame on The X Factor ten years ago and went on to land a record deal with Simon Cowell ’s Syco label after finishing fourth in the seventh series of the long running ITV talent show.

And despite smashing her way onto the top of the charts with her debut single in 2011, Cher says she was asked to date a fellow star to boost her profile.

However the star rejected the suggestion and says she being fake goes against the very nature of her personality.

“They gave me a few suggestions but it was just a crazy thing to ask,” Cher said to The Sun.

“Sadly it still happens. That’s still happening in this day and age — that it’s still OK to try to make a young girl do something like that to boost a career,” she went on.

“I am never going to be that girl, I was never going to be that girl,” Cher continued.

“I write music, I release music and I don’t have the hidden agendas,” she added.

Mum-of-one Cher married hairdresser boyfriend Craig Monk in November 2013.

The couple welcomed their daughter Delilah-Rae in May 2018.

Cher is back on the music scene with a brand new single called Lost which was released on Friday.

The singer has teased fans with a six year late since the release of her last album, Sorry I’m Late, which was released in May 2014.

Her upcoming, and long-awaited, third album is believed to be titled M.I.A – although no concrete release date has been shared as yet.
