Chennai: Woman dies as iron pole falls on her

CHENNAI: A 40-year-old woman died in a freak accident at KK Nagar after an iron pole attached to a rope on her terrace gave away and fell on her when she had gone to collect clothes on Sunday night.

Rani and her husband Narayanan, a resident of Vivekananda Street in Tiruvallur district, had come to her brother Manikandan's house in Sector-4, KK Nagar, a couple of days ago.

On Sunday night, the woman went to the terrace and tried to remove clothes that were hung to dry on a rope attached to an iron pole, when it fell on her. Due to the impact, the woman collapsed and fell on the terrace.

Her brother found her lying in a pool of blood on the terrace. He rushed her to a private hospital from where she was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where doctors examined and declared her dead. A case has been registered.
