Chennai: Revenge murder thwarted in Mylapore

CHENNAI: The Mylapore police thwarted a revenge murder by arresting four men including a father and his two sons and seized a country bomb and five machetes on Monday.

Among those arrested, S Murugesan, 63, of Nochi Nagar is the father of Saravanan, who was hacked to death by a gang before a Tasmac shop at Pallakuma Nagar on August 1. Police said he wanted to avenge his son's murder. The other arrested include Murugesan’s other sons M Murugan, 30, and M Karthik, 23, and their friend E Praveen Kumar (24).

While the accused in Saravanan's murder case — Manikandan, Sham, Ajith and Vijay — were about to be released on bail, the intelligence wing sent a tip-off to senior officials that Saravanan’s family was hatching a plan to eliminate his killers.
