Chennai: Businessman robbed of Rs 10,000 by gang of transsexuals

CHENNAI: Police have launched a hunt for a gang of transsexuals for robbing a businessman who went to an ATM kiosk to deposit cash at Ashok Nagar on Monday.

The victim, identified as Tamil Nilavan, 40, a welding contractor, went to a State Bank of India ATM kiosk on Sixth Avenue in Ashok Nagar to deposit Rs 10,000.

A few transsexuals who were waiting outside the ATM intercepted him and they attempted to snatch the cash. As he tried to flee, one of the transsexuals attacked him with a stick. They snatched the cash from him and escaped as he fell on the ground.

The injured Tamil Nilavan was treated at the peripheral hospital at KK Nagar and later he filed a police complaint at the Ashok Nagar police station. A case has been registered and police are trying to track down the suspects with the help of the CCTV camera footage.
