CHENNAI: The slowing down of southwest monsoon over other regions may be good news for Chennai and its neighbouring districts as weathermen have forecast rainfall for at least three days starting this weekend.
For the next 48 hours, IMD has forecast thunderstorms with light rain to occur over some areas in the city and its neighbourhood. The skies are likely to be generally cloudy while the maximum and minimum temperature will be around 35 deg C and 26 deg C.
N Puviarasan of the regional meterological centre said the rain would be a result of convective activity due to a circulation moving from the east and a low-level trough from the west supported by warm temperatures in the state. “From Saturday to Monday, almost all districts in the state may receive some spells, a few areas may even get heavy rainfall. Chennai can expect rain on early Saturday morning and again later at night,” he said.
