Chennai: A note from a burglar, to an army officer

CHENNAI: A burglar left behind a note at a retired army official’s residence in Selaivoyal near Manali and decamped with 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the house. “How dare could you object to my child playing near your house? Now you are at the receiving end.”

Police suspected it to be the handiwork of some neighbours of the former army official John Bosco, who is now employed as a security official at a private container yard firm in Manali.

Bosco, who lives with his family at Selaivoyal near Manali, found his main door lock was tampered with and the bureau was emptied when he returned home after visiting the Besant Nagar church for the mass on Sunday.

He checked his belongings and filed a complaint stating that he lost at least 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery and some cash from the almirah.

He saw the note scribbled on the wall and mentioned that in his complaint. The Manali police have registered a case and have collected the CCTV camera footage. They found two men walking out of Bosco’s house. Despite the identity of the men not clear, cops are trying to track the suspects with the help of the footage collected from the other shops and houses nearby.
