The Cheltenham Festival came to and end with the prestigious Gold Cup on Friday.
This year’s edition was an unpredictable affair with big names like Constitution Hill, Marine Nationale and Galopin Des Champs out of the running and fewer clear favourites on show.
Willie Mullins continued to thrive early on Friday, with Apolon De Charnie delivering a 50/1 victory in the Triumph Hurdle, and it only got better from there as Gaelic Warrior raced to a dominant win in the Gold Cup, with Paul Townend becoming the most successful jockey in the race’s history as the duo won by eight lengths.
Harry Redknapp’s The Jukebox Man had a shot in the big race but made a last mistake to fall out of contention, while Inothewayurthinking came short in a bid to create history with a third-placed finish.
