Cheltenham Gold Cup tragedy as horse dies after final race before retirement

  • Envoi Allen, the 12-year-old racehorse, collapsed and died after finishing ninth in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup.
  • The race was intended to be his final career start, as owners Cheveley Park Stud had announced his retirement following the event.
  • This marked Envoi Allen's eighth appearance at the Cheltenham Festival.
  • Throughout his career, he achieved an impressive 10 Grade One victories.
  • He was initially trained by Gordon Elliott before moving to Henry de Bromhead.
