Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Rob James set for hearing over dead horse video

An investigation into a video which showed amateur jockey Rob James climbing onto the back of a dead horse has concluded, it has been reported.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has scheduled a a referral hearing for Wednesday, after the circumstances of the 2016 clip were looked into.

James apologised for his "stupidity" when the footage emerged on social media, just days after an image showing trainer Gordon Elliott astride a dead horse caused widespread outrage.

The IHRB confirmed last week an investigation into James' actions had begun, but that has now been brought to a close.

Evidence will be presented before the referrals body tomorrow.

An IHRB statement released on Twitter said: "Our investigation into a video circulating on social media last week has concluded and a referral hearing will take place on Wednesday.

"The IHRB will not be commenting further on this matter until after the hearing."

Rob James won the 2020 Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup on Milan Native (PA)

James rode Milan Native to victory at last year's Cheltenham Festival, in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Handicap Chase.

Elliott was banned from training for 12 months, with six of those suspended, at the conclusion of his case with the IHRB.
