Cheltenham Festival tips: Four horses whose odds were slashed over the weekend

The National Hunt action has really heated up in recent weeks - and there's plenty more top class racing to look forward to over the next month or so.

In Ireland, Fairyhouse hosted their Winter Festival, while Newbury and Newcastle were among the courses to host quality racing in England.

Here are four horses whose odds for the Cheltenham Festival were slashed in recent days:

Honeysuckle - Champion Hurdle

Henry de Bromhead's mare looked as good as ever when blowing away a strong Hatton's Grace field on Sunday as she won the race for a third time to remain unbeaten.

No punters were present for her Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham last March, but she was roared home by a big crowd at Fairyhouse and received a great reception as she made her way into the winner's enclosure at the Meath track under Rachael Blackmore.

The seven-year-old is now odds-on (from 6/4) with most firms to retain her Champion Hurdle crown at Prestbury Park next year

Jonbon - Supreme Novices' Hurdle

JP McManus' £570,000 record purchase impressed on his hurdling debut at Newbury on Friday and he is now as short as 11/4 (from 7/1) to win the Cheltenham opener next March.

Douvan's brother powered to a six-length success in the maiden hurdle at odds of 10/11 as he barely got out of second gear with an authoritative performance.

Willie Mullins has some strong candidates for the Supreme, including last year's Champion Bumper runner-up Kilcruit, with Sir Gerhard looking set to be aimed at the Ballymore, and 11/4 looks very short for Jonbon as a result.

Thomas Darby - Stayers' Hurdle

Thomas Darby was cut to a general 16/1 from 40/1 for the Stayers' Hurdle following his victory in the Long Distance Hurdle last Friday.

Always highly regarded by Olly Murphy, Thomas Darby was on the verge of becoming a little disappointing but fitted with a tongue tie for the first time, travelled sweetly in the hands of Sean Bowen at Newbury.

He beat previous Stayers' Hurdle winners Paisley Park and Lisnagar Oscar after looming up to challenge after the penultimate obstacle before going on to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Ahoy Senor - Festival Novices’ Chase

Arguably the most impressive winner over the past few days, Ahoy Senor absolutely bolted up in the Ladbrokes John Francome Novices' Chase at Newbury on Saturday.

The Lucinda Russell-trained six-year-old came home 31 lengths ahead of runner-up and 11/10 favourite Mr Incredible, with his odds for the Festival Novices’ Chase being cut to 8-1 from 16-1 as a result.
