Hazel Hill strode clear after the last to win the Foxhunter Chase on the final day at Cheltenham.
Sent off the 7-2 favourite, Hazel Hill was part of a quartet that broke away from the rest of the field running down the hill on the final circuit.
Under Alex Edwards, he surged clear after the last to beat Shantou Flyer (7-1) and last year’s runner-up Top Wood (33-1), with Road To Rome, who made all the running, finishing in fourth.
It was a fairy tale result for small-time trainer Philip Rowley, on a day when some cheer was needed after the tragic deaths of Sir Erec and Invitation Only.
