Chelsea XI vs Manchester United: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest today

Chelsea have Reece James on the bench for tonight's trip to Manchester United, with the club captain not coming straight back into the side after suspension.

James missed the win over Brighton after being sent off against Newcastle, and Mauricio Pochettino has opted against starting him in Manchester.

Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia remain unavailable for Chelsea, while Pochettino has also confirmed the absences of Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochukwu ahead of the Premier League game at Old Trafford. Madueke and Ugochukwu join Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah and Malo Gusto, who are out injured.

Conor Gallagher is suspended after getting sent off for two yellow cards in the 3-2 win over Brighton on Sunday.

Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo start in midfield but a replacement for Gallagher is needed, with Palmer stepping up in his place.

Axel Disasi looks set to start at right-back, with Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill in the middle and Marc Cucurella after left-back on his return from suspension.

Raheem Sterling, Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk are the three attacking players behind striker Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Disasi, Silva, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Fernandez, Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk, Jackson.

Subs: Badiashile, Broja, James, Petrovic, Maatsen, Washington, Gilchrist, Matos, Castledine.

Time and date: 8.15pm GMT on Wednesday, December 6, 2023

Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester
