Chelsea XI vs Liverpool: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League

Cole Palmer will start for Chelsea against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge - (ES Composite)

Robert Sanchez starts for Chelsea against Liverpool.

The goalkeeper missed the midweek Conference League win over Djurgardens after sustaining a knock in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Everton.

But Sanchez has recovered and starts at Stamford Bridge.

Romeo Lavia anchors the midfield, with Moises Caicedo again starting at right-back.

Christopher Nkunku, who also missed the 4-1 victory over Djurgardens due to an issue picked up in training, is not in the squad.

“The medical staff are going to tell me something more [on Thursday],” Maresca said of Nkunku’s injury. “It's exactly the same with Robert. He is working already on the pitch, so I think probably compared to Christo it's a better situation, but we'll see.”

Maresca made eight changes to his side for Thursday night’s win in Stockholm and was able to spread minutes across his squad by making a further four at half-time.

Malo Gusto was also fit enough to be named on the bench after picking up a hamstring injury against Fulham last month, while Lavia is rested having been ineligible for the European trip.

Pedro Neto did not play a minute against the Swedes, while Noni Madueke was withdrawn at half-time, suggesting that pair get the nod ahead of Jadon Sancho on the wings.

Confirmed Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Caicedo, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Lavia, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Jackson

Subs: Jorgensen, Tosin, Badiashile, Acheampong, Gusto, James, Dewsbury-Hall, Sancho, George

Injured: Nkunku, Fofana, Guiu, Kellyman
