Chelsea XI vs Crystal Palace: Badiashile debut - confirmed team news, starting lineup, injury latest today

Chelsea have handed a debut to new signing Benoit Badiashile against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

He replaces fellow centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who is dropped to the bench by Graham Potter for a must-win London derby showdown in the Premier League.

Conor Gallagher, Jorginho and Carney Chukwuemeka all come in to start in midfield, with Denis Zakaria out and the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Cesar Azpilicueta dropping to the bench.

There is still no place for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front despite the suspension of Joao Felix following the red card on his debut at Fulham, with Hakim Ziyech in alongside Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is available for a supporting role off the bench today after he stepped up his recovery from a long-term ankle injury by joining in first-team training earlier this week, with imminent new £89million signing Mykhaylo Mudryk set to watch the game from the stands after his medical. A debut for him could loom at Liverpool next weekend.

Ben Chilwell is understood to be next in line for a return for Chelsea, while the likes of Reece James, Edouard Mendy, Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana are all facing a few more weeks before they can make their respective comebacks. N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja complete a lengthy injury list.

Chelsea starting XI: Kepa, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Badiashile, Hall, Gallagher, Jorginho, Chukwuemeka, Ziyech, Havertz, Mount

Subs: Kovacic, Aubameyang, Loftus-Cheek, Bettinelli, Koulibaly, D Fofana, Azpilicueta, Cucurella, Humphreys
