Chelsea Women to revamp ticket prices next season

Chelsea Women will revamp their ticketing strategy and raise prices next season after manager Emma Hayes said women’s football has been “too cheap”.

Tickets for matches at Kingsmeadow last season were a flat rate of £10 for adults and £1 for concessions, but fans will see a hike in the cost of watching the WSL and FA Cup winners.

Next season the club will introduce a range of prices, with the most expensive tickets increasing by £10. Concessions will also increase significantly.

Chelsea believe the move will be backed by supporters following a long period of consultation, despite the cost of living crisis. The club found that many casual fans bought cheaper tickets and then failed to show up.

Any increased revenue from the move will be reinvested to improve the facilities at their 5,000-capacity Kingsmeadow, which was bought by Chelsea in 2015.

Chelsea are bringing in dedicated seating for the first time next season and there will also be an away end at Kingsmeadow.

The club plans to stage at least four WSL matches and three Champions League fixtures at Stamford Bridge next season, more if they reach the knockout stage in Europe.

Hayes said in November: “Is it too cheap to watch women’s football? I think it is, especially the top games.”
