Chelsea Women have donated their prize money for winning the Women's Super League to domestic abuse charity, Refuge.
The Blues were confirmed as champions on Friday last week after the final standings were decided on a points-per-game basis, claiming £100,000 in prize money. The club have now donated every penny of the money to charity.
Since the start of the pandemic the Blues have supported Refuge through the Chelsea Foundation, including a donation from the men's squad.
Their support has also seen more than 100,000 hot meals delivered to key workers in the NHS and social care, while both hotels at Stamford Bridge have been opened to healthcare staff in need of alternative accommodation.
Manager Emma Hayes said: "It’s a charity that’s close to the hearts and minds of the Women’s team, and is very important to our owner Mr Abramovich and everyone at the club. It makes me proud our club is supporting those less fortunate in times of need."
Lockdown has seen a rise in cases of domestic abuse across the country, placing huge strain on charities such as Refuge.
Sandra Horley, chief executive of Refuge, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Chelsea Women. Refuge has seen a huge increase in demand to its Helpline and website services during Covid-19 which has shone a light on the thousands of women who need our support across the country right now."
