Chelsea winger Pedro suffers hamstring injury in warm-up vs Norwich City

Chelsea winger Pedro could be set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in the warm-up against Norwich City.

The 32-year-old was named in Frank Lampard's starting XI for the lunchtime fixture at Carrow Road but was forced to withdraw from contention after pulling up with a muscle problem.

The Blues opted not to risk the winger, who had started all three of Lampard's games in charge, and was replaced by Ross Barkley.

Chelsea confirmed the injury with a post on their Twitter account although it was not disclosed how long the Spaniard would be out of action for.

"Despite his initial inclusion in the starting line-up, Pedro picked up a hamstring injury during the warm-up.

"Ross Barkley was his replacement and the Blues now have just six substitutes on the bench."

Chelsea are next in action against Sheffield United next Saturday but Lampard is not exactly short of options in the attacking midfield department should Pedro miss out.

Barkley, Christian Pulisic, Willian and Mason Mount will all be available to deputise, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both close to a return to action after recovering from Achilles injuries.
