Chelsea will be without new trio Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell for Monday’s season opener at Brighton.
Silva has been in quarantine following his switch to London from Paris Saint-Germain and the experienced Brazilian defender is only due to train with Chelsea for the first at the weekend.
Ziyech will miss the first few weeks of the season with the knee injury he suffered in a friendly against Brighton, while Chilwell is still recovering from a heel problem.
Christian Pulisic has returned to training this week following the hamstring injury he suffered in the FA Cup Final, but Frank Lampard will be cautious with him.
Lampard knows expectation levels at Chelsea have been raised after spending more than £200million this summer but he says he is ready for the added pressure.
Lampard would not be drawn on whether he is expected to challenge for the title but he said: “The pressure for me to do better than last season should be standard. That comes with the territory of this job.
"I understand the players we brought in will be talked about because when you make those sorts of moves it becomes a good story. We were very joined up in the business we wanted to do to try and improve the team. Hopefully we have done it in a good way. We should be excited, but we should also have a slight word of caution that we need to work with the new players to get them settled in.
“We finished a lot of points behind Liverpool and Manchester City in the last two seasons. We have to first focus on closing the gap and building more confidence.”
