Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham supporters given huge boost with UEFA to confirm return of away fans in Europe

Away fans will be allowed to travel to games in European club competitions again from next week, UEFA are set to announce.

Supporters have largely been unable to purchase tickets to away games in Europe since the start of the pandemic, but will now be allowed to return subject to government restrictions in individual countries. A limited number of Chelsea and Manchester City fans were allowed to attend their Champions League final in Porto earlier this year.

The news comes at the perfect time for West Ham fans as David Moyes prepares his side to face Dinamo Zagreb in their first ever Europa League group stage game in Croatia next week, Thursday 16 September.

The Hammers begin their campaign away from home and supporters from east London will now be able to travel and witness that moment of history with Croatia on the UK government's green travel list, meaning those making the trip do not need to quarantine upon their return.

Tottenham are travelling to Rennes on the same night as they open their group stage campaign in the Europa Conference League.

European champions Chelsea begin their Champions League defence at home to Zenit next week but will travel to Turin to face Juventus later this month.
