Chelsea welcome N'Golo Kante back to contact training after health and safety fears

Chelsea have received a significant boost ahead of the Premier League’s return as N'Golo Kante has taken part in full-contact training.

The midfielder had previously been training on his own at Chelsea’s Cobham training base after originally being granted granted compassionate leave by manager Frank Lampard.

Kante had been reluctant to return to training due to safety fears surrounding the coronavirus crisis.

Chelsea have put no pressure on the Frenchman to return to training and, after first returning to Cobham to keep fit on his own, he has taken part in a full-contact session this week.

Kante’s return is a huge boost to Chelsea and they will be hopeful he can play some role in the Premier League run-in.

The 29-year-old has established himself as a key player under Lampard and played a prominent role this season.

Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League and they are three points ahead of Manchester United in fifth.

The Blues are due to play their first match since lockdown’s suspension when they take on Aston Villa on June 21.
