Chelsea vs Watford
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Date: Sunday, May 5, 2019
Kick-off: 2pm BST
Chelsea welcome Watford to Stamford Bridge on Sunday in another must-win clash for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
The Blues currently occupy the final Champions League spot heading into the penultimate weekend of the 2018-19 season – two points clear of Arsenal and three clear of Manchester United.
Qualification by winning the Europa League remains a target – a competition Watford hope to be competing in next season.
The Hornets can qualify for Europe either by finishing seventh in the Premier League or beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Chelsea vs Watford team news and predicted line-ups
Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be fit for Chelsea's Premier League clash with Watford.
The England midfielder was withdrawn in the latter stages of Chelsea's 1-1 Europa League semi-final first-leg draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, but head coach Maurizio Sarri put that down to cramp.
Chelsea will assess Gary Cahill who missed the Frankfurt trip with an Achilles tendon problem, but fellow defender Antonio Rudiger (knee) and winger Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) are long-term absentees.
Troy Deeney is available once again for the Hornets after his recent suspension.
Possible Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Christensen, Jorginho, Kante, Loftus-Cheek, Willian, Hazard, Higuain
Possible Watford XI: Foster, Femenia, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas, Doucoure, Hughes, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Deeney
Score prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Watford
The Blues were able to grab a draw midweek against Frankfurt with key man Eden Hazard playing over just half an hour having been left on the bench.
That decision demonstrated Sarri is equally determined to clinch a top four finish and succeed in Europe – the right attitude heading into another big test on Sunday.
