Chelsea vs Watford player ratings: Ross Barkley impresses, Kenedy surprises, Kai Havertz nets

Edouard Mendy

It was another reasonably quiet outing for the Chelsea stopper but he showed that he could retain his focus to produce an outstanding save against Joao Pedro. 6.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Almost scored an own goal when looking to pass to Mendy in the second period but Thiago Silva spared his blushes. Solid otherwise. 6.

Thiago Silva

Great awareness to spare Azpilicueta embarrassment when he scrambled to keep the ball out of the net as he produced another good display at the heart of Chelsea's defence. 7.

Antonio Rudiger

Wasn't tasked with too much during his time on the pitch and received a well-deserved round of applause when substituted in the second period after playing his final minutes for the club. 6.

Reece James

Produced another outstanding assist to confirm his quality to serve the ball to Ross Barkley late on. 7.

N'Golo Kante

Steady display from the Frenchman who didn't have the guile to help work it through the layers of Watford defence. 6.

Saul Niguez

Seemed to make it his mission to shoot from range in the early stages of the match in a steady but uninspiring outing. 6.

Kenedy

Had acres of space to disguise a perfect cross that landed straight on Kai Havertz's run for the German to tap home. Was lively when on the pitch but seemed to be struggling physically early in the second period before being replaced by Malang Sarr. 6.

Hakim Ziyech

Showed some flashy touches and the ability to beat a man but was more often and not left frustrated by the number of Watford bodies in the opposition box. 6.

Kai Havertz

The German had a good opportunity in the opening five minutes but couldn't find a way past Daniel Bachmann but was soon able to tap home from the six-yard line thanks to a well-timed run. The 22-year-old will be pleased to have to get on the scoresheet but may have wanted more. 6.

Mason Mount

Looked to drive forward and create when he could but didn't offer too much in the way of end product against the Hornets. 6.

Substitutes:

Malang Sarr - Replaced Kenedy early in the second half and should have done better in guarding Dan Gosling for Watford's goal 5.

Ross Barkley - Was heavily involved after his introduction finding plenty of freedom to drive at Watford to have his fair share of shots. Polished off his performance with a late winner. 7.

Ben Chilwell - Fantastic to see Chilwell get a few minutes at the end of the game as tribute to the work he has put in over the last six months away from the first team. N/A.
