Club World Cup final LIVE
Cole Palmer produced a scintillating first-half masterclass as Chelsea demolished Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to win the Club World Cup final at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
The English attacking midfielder scored twice and provided an assist for Joao Pedro in a devastating display in the revamped tournament's decider that left the European and French champions, who finished with 10 men, shell-shocked before the break.
Chelsea struck first in the 22nd minute when PSG full-back Nuno Mendes gifted possession to Malo Gusto. While his initial effort was blocked by Mendes, Gusto collected the rebound and found Palmer unmarked in the middle and the midfielder made no mistake, slotting a tidy finish just inside the left post.
Palmer doubled the lead after the 30th-minute cooling break with a goal of sublime quality. Latching onto a precise through ball from Levi Colwill, he cut inside before faking a pass to dummy a defender and firing into the bottom-left corner.
Palmer then turned provider, running up the channel before finding Joao Pedro, who took the ball in his stride and beat the offside trap before chipping his finish beautifully over keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. PSG's misery was completed when Joao Neves was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair in the 83rd minute.

Luis Enrique explains angry Joao Pedro clash
09:45 , George FloodLuis Enrique has offered an explanation following his furious clash with Joao Pedro after PSG’s Club World Cup final defeat by Chelsea.
Tempers flared badly after the final whistle at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with Enrique strongly criticised for appearing to shove Pedro in his face and neck as an initial disagreement between Andrey Santos and Nuno Mendes saw the Chelsea forward, PSG boss, and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma all get involved.
Enrique could now be in hot water with FIFA after his post-match behaviour on Sunday, but the Spaniard insisted afterwards that he was simply attempting to separate the players in order to try and prevent the situation from escalating any further.

Huge clashes on the pitch at full-time and Luis Enrique appears to have hit Joao Pedro in the face, along with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Full-time! Chelsea are world champions!

Sunday 13 July 2025 22:06 , Alex YoungIt's the right call. Joao Neves has been very irritable today and is ultimately sent off for a stupid tug of Cucurella's hair.
FIFA clamped down on that sort of thing two years ago, and PSG will finish with 10 men.
Chelsea 3-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 22:05 , Alex Young87min: I tell you what, Caicedo is lucky to avoid a second yellow card for a clumsy lunge.

Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 22:00 , Alex YoungThat's so close from Delap, who did brilliantly to use his body and fend off the challenge.
Fresh legs seems to be doing the trick for Chelsea, who continue to show little respect to their opponents. It was almost 4-0!

Sunday 13 July 2025 21:47 , Alex YoungOutstanding from Delap, literally just on. He's desperate to show that he is every bit as up for leading the line for Chelsea as Joao Pedro.
That, for Maresca, will be great to see.

PSG dominating possession at the moment and, given the scoreline, that's no surprise. They're the team with it all to do.
Chelsea 3-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 21:31 , Alex Young52min: Dembele denied by Sanchez!
Colwill gets Doue’s cross stuck under his feet, the ball falls to Dembele just yards out and Sanchez somehow dives across to save at point-blank range.

Chelsea 3-0 PSG

Second half!
Sunday 13 July 2025 21:24 , Alex Young46min: Back underway!
DAZN have just previewed an interview with Donald Trump. Be sure to tune in after the game, if you want.
Anyway, the players are back out.
I see the Crystal Palace comparison. Maybe a pointed protest to UEFA?

Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 21:15 , Alex YoungDoja Cat in a Crystal Palace-inspired dress, Chelsea thrashing the European champions, Donald Trump and Andros Townsend in the same building. Everything's normal.
Enzo Maresca has completely nulified the European champions.

Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 21:07 , Alex YoungIt's been a masterclass from Chelsea. They lead 3-0 at the break and are halfway to winning the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup.
No one saw that first half coming! Palmer at the double, and then assisting Joao Pedro.
PSG are shell-shocked and have offered next to nothing.

Half-time!
Sunday 13 July 2025 21:00 , Alex Young51min: A dreamland of a first half for Chelsea!
Chelsea 3-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:59 , Alex Young49min: Chelsea are just swarming PSG. The French side have no time on the ball.

Sunday 13 July 2025 20:58 , Alex Young46min: Six minuted added on.
Chelsea 3-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:56 , Alex Young45min: A brave header from Nevez, who ducks Colwill’s foot to angle an effort on goal that Sanchez does well to save.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:54 , Alex YoungIt's just too easy for Chelsea! Pedro with his third goal in two starts for the Blues, and it's Palmer at the heart of this one too. What a delightful finish. Whisper it quietly, but I don't see Chelsea losing it from here.

GOAL!
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:51 , Alex Young43min: This is incredible!
PSG do not know what to do about Palmer, who races at their defence and slips Joao Pedro into to beat Donnarumma from close range.
Masterclash from Palmer, Masterclass from Maresca!
Chelsea 2-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:50 , Alex Young42min: PSG win their first corner. Mendes goes short, it’s played to Dembele who then goes over the top... to absolutely no one.
Chelsea 2-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:48 , Alex Young41min: Gusto is now booked for a late lunge to stop a PSG counter.
Chelsea 2-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:48 , Alex Young40min: Great save from Sanchez, to race off his line and punch the ball away from Dembele in the area.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:47 , Alex YoungBoth teams have been playing a very high line in this final, but while it's worked a treat for Chelsea, it's how PSG have been caught out - twice - by Palmer.
Chelsea 2-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:44 , Alex Young36min: Now Caicedo is booked for kicking the ball away.
Chelsea 2-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:43 , Alex Young35min: Neto is the first man in the referee’s book, and he looks quite confused about it. Me too, to be honest.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:42 , Alex YoungIt's all a little bit eery this isn't it?! How are Chelsea playing this well against the all-conquering champions of Europe?
Palmer has a brace, both similar goals, and Chelsea are in dreamland.
LOTS of football still to be played, but Palmer has his manager roaring with delight and the Blues in a fantastic position.

GOALLLLLLLLLLL!
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:39 , Alex Young30min: Palmer again and it’s almost identical!
The Chelsea star is thriving down the left, he cuts in, wiggles his hips, sends Beraldo to the shops and then slots past Donnarumma.
Stunning.
Chelsea 1-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:37 , Alex Young28min: it is 30C as the coolig break ends.
Chelsea 1-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:34 , Alex Young25min: Time for a cooling break as Chalobah halts Kvaratskhelia in his tracks.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:33 , Alex YoungCole Palmer turns up when Chelsea most need him, and that finish was just so calm and composed and typical of the Englishman's performances over the past month.
Chelsea lead the European champions, who aren't happy at all and are making Reece James and a few of the other Chelsea players aware. Not sure what their complaints are - it was a superb goal.

GOALLLLLLLL!
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:31 , Alex Young22min: Palmer makes amends with a cool finish to give Chelsea the lead!
He went for power last time, but this time he rolls a great finish beyond Donnarumma after Gusto was denied.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:27 , Alex YoungExcellent save from Sanchez, who braced himself well and got a strong, firm hand behind that Doue effort.
Could easily have been the opening goal, but the Chelsea shot-stopper did his job. PSG, you feel, just starting to grow now.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:27 , Alex Young18min: Doue almost makes amends!
Dembele spots him on the right, Doue takes the ball on his left and forces Sanchez into a fine save low to his left.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:25 , Alex Young16min: PSG should be ahead!
Ruiz puts a great ball across goal for Doue, Sanchez doesn’t move and the young forward instead tries to find Hakimi in the centre to allow Cucurella to intercept!
Doue perhaps made the wrong choice there.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:22 , Alex Young13min: Hakimi with his first real sight of goal as the defender looks up to find a team-mate but gets his low cross all wrong.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:19 , Alex Young10min: PSG are trying to calm things down. Palmer’s effort was a wake-up call.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:17 , Alex Young8min: I spoke too soon! Pedro’s flick on the edge of the area sets Palmer up for a shot with the goal gaping... but he misses by inches!
Many fans thought he had scored as the ball hit the advertising board behind and then nestled on the outside of the net.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:16 , Alex Young7min: Palmer is seeing so much of the ball in these early stages. He’s not yet looked for a shot but instead for his team-mates.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:15 , Alex YoungIt's an encouraging start from Chelsea, on the front foot from the off and taking risks in these opening exchanges against PSG. Palmer and Pedro have seen a fair amount of the ball already.

Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:14 , Alex Young6min: Really good from Palmer, who battles past a few tackles, loses the ball on the edge of the PSG area and then wins it back to feed Gusto into the box. The defender’s low cross is cut out.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:13 , Alex Young5min: PSG getting their foot on the ball finally and almost carve open a chance as Hakimi puts Neto under pressure, but the Chelsea man is able to head back to his goalkeeper.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:11 , Alex Young3min: It’s all Chelsea in these early stages as Neto almost finds Cucurella with a cross to the near post.
Chelsea 0-0 PSG
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:10 , Alex Young2min: Palmer and Pedro link up well on the edge of the area, but Palmer’s cross towards the back post in plucked out of the air by Donnarumma.
Kick-off
Sunday 13 July 2025 20:08 , Alex Young1min: Here we go!
Still time for some Michael Buffer! He also uses the word ‘football’, top marks.
Right, we’re a few minutes away as all the pre-match trinkets are taken off the pitch.
Chelsea or PSG will be crowned world champions in a matter of hours.
The player walkouts are underway.
Oh, Donald Trump is here! Standing next to the FIFA president ahead of the national anthem.
How utterly thrilling.
Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 19:52 , Alex YoungRobbie Williams loves an opening ceremony / closing ceremony / SuperBowl-style appearance. And here he duly is. Normal service resumed.
Robbie Williams is on stage.
The opening ceremony is starting and we have about 20 or so drummers, all wearing back and gold and sunglasses, in the centre of the pitch.
Still a few empty seats as we approach kick-off.
Is this the helicopter which holds US president Donald Trump?

Just over half an hour until kick-off.

Dom Smith reports
Sunday 13 July 2025 19:19 , Alex YoungThe trust shown to Reece James by starting him in midfield against this PSG team is a fascinating call.
But Enzo Maresca's decision to push Enzo Fernandez forward into the No10 role and move Cole Palmer out wide is no real surprise and just a continuation of what we have seen from Chelsea in the US over the course of this month.
Fernandez clearly has the attributes to play in that playmaker role and has done so to good effect in the second half of this season. Can he be the creative spark again?

Will Chelsea hold a Club World Cup trophy parade?
Sunday 13 July 2025 18:22 , Alex YoungNo. According to BBC Sport, there will be no trophy parade if Chelsea win the Club World Cup.
Players are reportedly unwilling to further delay their much-needed holidays, which any planned trophy parade would require as the squad and staff would need to fly back to London before presenting the trophy early next week.
The new Premier League season begins in five weeks’ time and the current squad out in the United States already have holidays planned with families, who are attending the game ahead of a quick getaway.
Chelsea’s next game after Sunday’s Club World Cup final is on August 8, as they play Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge in their first pre-season friendly. That would be the first opportunity for the club to present the trophy, or trophies, won to fans.
Chelsea have arrived.

How much prize money have Chelsea won so far?
Sunday 13 July 2025 18:10 , Alex YoungChelsea's semi-final win over Fluminense was their fifth of six games, having lost one group-stage game, against Flamengo, and took their total earnings for the competition to around £80m, depending on their exact participation fee.
That total will rise by around £7.5m should they win the final, for a total winnings of £87.5m.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca was asked about the club's £80m windfall following the semi-final victory, to which he responded: "Chelsea have made that. Not me. I prepare for the games in the same way, and I don't care about the money. We don't get any of it, unfortunately."

Chelsea vs PSG prediction
Sunday 13 July 2025 18:00 , Alex YoungThere will be plenty of nervous hand-wringing in the Chelsea camp ahead of the Club World Cup final. PSG are formidable opposition at the best of times, and showed not even the faintest signs of weakness as they mercilessly picked Real Madrid apart. Chelsea have their work cut out for them.
In a positive for the Blues, they seem to have improved steadily in each of their matches at the tournament, but their run to the final has been nowhere near as challenging as their opponents.
It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to pick out a weakness in PSG. They are rock solid at the back, fluid in midfield, ruthless in attack. Donnarumma is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment, and the squad’s depth is an embarrassment of riches.
Chelsea will have to be at their absolute best if they are to come away from the final with silverware in hand. Even that, though, may not be enough.
PSG to win, 3-1.

Team news shouldn’t be too far off.

Vitinha, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz are set for an intriguing midfield battle with Chelsea trio Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer.

Early Chelsea team news
Sunday 13 July 2025 17:42 , Alex YoungChelsea have been boosted by the fitness of Moises Caicedo, who was an injury doubt after he twisted his ankle late on in the Blues’ semi-final win over Fluminense.

Liam Delap was suspended for the 2-0 semi-final win over Fluminense but is available again, leaving Maresca with a big decision over the make-up of his attack.
