The Blues have won each of their last three matches under Frank Lampard, scoring plenty but also giving cause for defensive concern.
Lampard will be hoping for a better defensive display against Gladbach, with that Premier League opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 11 now looming large.

Chelsea remained without N'Golo Kante in Austria, though Lampard is hopeful that he will be fit to face United next weekend as he builds fitness following the recurrence of a knee injury.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain sidelined following their respective Achilles surgeries, while Antonio Rudiger is still recovering from a meniscus issue and Reece James underwent an ankle operation last month.
Willian has yet to play since being ruled out of the Copa America Final with a knee problem.
