Chelsea vs Manchester United: Jose Mourinho accepts Marco Ianni's apology for 'bad education' celebrations

Jose Mourinho has described Marco Ianni celebrations of Chelsea's late equaliser against Manchester United as "bad education", though has accepted the assistant coach's post-match apologies.

A fracas broke out seconds after Ross Barkley's 96th-minute equaliser to seal a 2-2 draw when Ianni sprinted down the touchline and celebrated directly in front of Mourinho.

The United manager confronted Ianni and the two sets of backroom staff, including the Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, became involved in a melee of pushing and shoving.

At full time, Mourinho walked off the pitch holding three fingers up to the Chelsea supporters, representing the three Premier League titles he won with the club.

When asked to give his version of events on the incident, Mourino said of Ianni's conduct: "Not celebrations. Bad education, but I also made mistakes in football matches and I will make more, so when he came to me after the game to apologise, I accepted his apologies."

Mourinho revealed that Sarri had assured him that Ianni would apologise and that Chelsea would deal with the matter of their second assistant's behaviour.

"Maurizio saw and told that he would take care of it internally and to accept his apologies, which I did, but then the young fellow come and apologise, I told him I accept.

The United manager added: "I did mistakes when I was your age and try to improve."

Ianni faces possible sanction by the Football Association for his conduct, though the governing body could also take a dim view of Mourinho confronting Ianni for his celebrations.

Mourinho was charged by the FA last week for using "abusive, insulting or improper language" after United's victory over Rafael Benitez's Newcastle.
