Chelsea vs Man United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heaps praise on James Garner ahead of Carabao Cup opportunity

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on James Garner after the Manchester United youngster’s impact late on against Norwich.

The 18-year-old came on in the 82nd minute of the 3-1 victory at Carrow Road.

And Solskjaer was delighted with his contribution, promising both Garner and Brandon Williams chances at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

“For just 10, 15 minutes tonight Jimmy played as well,” Solskjaer told reporters.

“I thought he was excellent, because he’s calmed us down when we wanted to see the game out.

“So we’ve not made a decision on who is going to play [at Chelsea] but you’ll probably see the two of them [Garner and Williams].”

Solskjaer has taken the positives from a bad run of injuries, insisting the young players can help the first team.

“We know it’s been tough and we know that we’ve asked a lot of them because Paul, Luke, Anthony – there’s loads of other players that have been injured,“ Solskjaer added.

“For us, the youngsters have stepped up in a difficult period. But in the end, they’ll be stronger for it.”
