Chelsea vs Man United odds: Striker and club top scorer tipped to score first

Recent events over in the blue half of Manchester means the race for Champions League promotion has been busted wide open for the likes of Chelsea and Man United.

Liverpool, Man City and Leicester City were moreorless certain to qualify for Europe's top prize next season but with Pep Guardiola's side now banned by UEFA, there are now two places up for grabs - making Monday night's match a huge six-pointer.

Chelsea, sitting 4th, need points to make sure they are ahead of the pack - even if it is ever so slightly.

Man United will now want to get bragging rights back and paint their city red now that their neighbours will not feature next year. All of a sudden it is now a race to 5th rather than 4th!

Frank Lampard's side will be hoping Tammy Abraham will go the distance this season with no injury setbacks.

The club's top goalscorer is currently on 13 goals in the league and being able to call himself a 20-goal striker will be huge in terms of his first-team chances next season if Lampard chooses to strengthen in the Englishman's position.

Bookies thepools.com caught up with football.london's Andy Ha:

Recommended bets:

  • Tammy Abraham to score first - 16/5
  • Chelsea to win 2-1 - 8/1

Win, lose or draw?

Chelsea's lead over the chasing pack outside the top four is slowly evaporating, so three points is crucial tonight. Much has been made of their poor home form this season, but they will have enough to edge an inconsistent United side. Chelsea 2-1 Man United.

First goalscorer?

Tammy Abraham ( 16/5) will likely pass a late fitness test to lead the line for Chelsea, but I am backing one of the wingers to open the scoring. Let's go for Willian.

First card?

Cesar Azpilicueta is not afraid of sticking a foot in, and will be up against Dan James so could be forced to take a booking for the team.

Who is on penalties?

If Jorginho ( 4/1 anytime) starts, he will be on spot kicks. If he gets the chance to break the deadlock from the spot then he's 11/1 to score first too.

Will you keep a clean sheet?

Manchester United have enough firepower to score at least once.
