Chelsea vs Liverpool Super Cup final preview - why Salah and Pulisic are a great bet to score

Chelsea new boy Christian Pulisic is expected to start in tonight's Super Cup final.

Jurgen Klopp has urged his team to "stay greedy" and has described the Istanbul showpiece against the Europa League winners as "a big one" - which suggests Golden Boot winner Mo Salah will also start.

And there have been 23 goals scored in the last four Super Cup finals - with only three clean sheets in the last five years of Liverpool versus Chelsea clashes!

Which all suggests that the 12/1 offered by thepools.com for both players to score at Vodafone Park is a very tempting offer.

When Salah starts, he usually scores.

After getting a series of uncharacteristic misses out of his system in the Community Shield, Liverpool's Egyptian King reverted to type with a slickly taken touch and finish against Norwich on Friday night.

He has collected the Golden Boot in each of his last two seasons with Liverpool, and enjoys facing Chelsea - scoring in each of his Anfield appearances against the Londoners.

Salah also averages more shots against his former side than against any other member of the Premier League's big six.

Pulisic is a one-time Jurgen Klopp protege and scored in two of his final three appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

He added three more in USA's end of season involvement in the CONCACAF Gold Cup - and during his 124 match career for Dortmund scored 19 times .... or every 6.4 appearances.

So 12/1 for both players to score? There are worse bets ....

Elsewhere thepools.com are offering 5/6 on there being fewer than four cards brandished by referee Stephanie Frappart.

The ground-breaking official has shown nine yellow cards in the only two men's matches she has officiated to date - and Chelsea collected four on their own in Sunday's Old Trafford humbling.

But this is a glorified friendly match, Liverpool don't collect cards cheaply under Klopp - they haven't picked up ANY in their last four matches (Norwich, Community Shield, Champions league final and Wolves) - and under four cards is surely the way to go?
