Frank Lampard has made one change from the side which lost to Liverpool on penalties in the Uefa Super Cup Final on Wednesday night, swapping out Mateo Kovacic for Mason Mount.
The Blues were still without Antonio Rudiger for Lampard's homecoming against Leicester as he has a knee injury.
Willian was on the bench after a similar complaint along with Tammy Abraham, who suffered racial abuse when he missed the decisive penalty in Wednesday's Super Cup defeat to Liverpool.
Leicester were unchanged from their opening game of the season, which they drew 0-0 with Wolves.
