Chelsea vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Uefa Europa League 2018-19 | Semi-final, second leg
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Date: Thursday, May 9, 2019
Kick-off time: 8:00pm BST
Chelsea hope to book their place in the Europa League final when they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
Luka Jovic briefly put the Blues under pressure at the Commerzbank-Arena last week but Pedro’s goal on the stroke of half-time helped steady the ship.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are now guaranteed Champions League football next season with a top four finish in the bag as of the weekend.
But they will be determined to end the season with some silverware – with a potential final with Arsenal lying in wait.
Chelsea team news and predicted line-up
The Blues will be without Antonio Rudiger for the remainder of the season, although Gary Cahill has recovered from an Achilles injury.
The defender came off the bench in the 3-0 win over Watford on Sunday – despite the release of an interview earlier that day where the former Bolton man said he could not respect Sarri.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is also out for the foreseeable future while N'Golo Kante seems certain to miss the second leg after limping off during the win over Watford.
Eden Hazard started on the bench last Thursday – a decision Sarri will feel was vindicated with the Blues returning from Germany in a relatively comfortable position in the tie and with the rested Belgian providing two assists at the weekend.
But with the pressure now off ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures, Sarri may opt to start his star man this week.
Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Christensen, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Giroud, Hazard
Score prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Chelsea missed chances to take control of this tie in Germany last week but showed enough to suggest they can get the job done back in London.
